How To Make Your Graphic Design Pieces Attractive

Use the iOS or Android learning app and view courses on your mobile device without an internet connection. Whether you’re creating a presentation, document, or e-learning course, it’s graphic design that brings your content to life. The importance of graphic design cannot be understated – good graphics can take an otherwise boring piece of content and turn it into something both engaging and memorable.

Of course, this is easier said than done. We all love to be a master graphic designer, but the truth is that we never need a graphic design skill set. However, there is some good news: most graphic design principles are quite simple.

Last week I hosted a free graphic design webinar for non-graphic designers. Here are the top three graphic design tips I covered during my webinar.

Graphic Designer Tips And Tricks

One of the easiest and most effective changes you can make in graphic design is to diversify your font. This means ditching the standard fonts you’re used to and choosing new fonts that convey a sense of personality and design.

How To Get Into The Best Graphic Design Schools: 4 Easy Tips

Choosing new fonts is easy. I like to follow the rule of three fonts by choosing a custom font for the title, header, and body content. At this point, I’ll also select a fourth font to highlight. The key to using the three (or four) font rules correctly is to use the font consistently. Title fonts will be used only for titles, title fonts for titles and main fonts for body content. If you go beyond these limits (even on purpose), you run the risk of making a mistake.

I can’t talk about fonts without talking about the passion for fonts. Have you ever wondered how different fonts mean different things? Whether you realize it or not, you have an emotional response to different types of fonts. This emotional response either supports the tone of your content or it does the opposite.

When choosing fonts, think about the emotions they evoke. If they match the meaning of your content, you’re doing it right.

Images, graphs, charts, and illustrations are great ways to help your audience see the point of your content. The truth is that a well-chosen image can convey more meaning to your content than a thousand words.

Graphic Design Tips For Beginners

The decision to choose quality images should not be made based on the number of pages or slides. When images are selected in this way, the quality and style of those images may appear inconsistent with your content. For example, if you combine professional photos purchased from a stock photo vendor with photos you have taken yourself, you will see a clear contrast. This lack of consistency may affect the validity of your course. To avoid this, select images from the same “image family”. This means using images with consistent lighting, style, framing, proportions and quality.

Even when images are selected from the same image family, treating these images with different effects and decorations can affect the overall consistency. Since images should not be selected on a page-by-page or slide-by-slide basis, the effects applied to these images should be consistent throughout the content.

Just as fonts can add character and emotion to your content, using color can take it even further. Look at the packaging of your favorite products or the cover of the last magazine you read. Are the colors bright and vibrant or dark and gloomy? Do the colors match the personality of the brand or message? Regardless, how color is used to provide added meaning and emotion to the content. Here are the colors that make sense to me:

I choose colors the same way I choose fonts, using a three-color rule: one color serves as the primary color, one as a secondary color, and the third as an accent color. Additionally, I balance the use of these three colors in my content. When combined with the rule of three fonts, the use of color gives the content an added sense of personality.

Choosing a color can become an art in itself. Even working within the confines of an organization’s provided color scheme, understanding how colors work together can be difficult for some. Fortunately, there are many tools to help us. In addition to the color tools built into most programs, tools like Adobe Color can help you create a variety of custom color schemes. You can also upload images to Adobe Color, which will analyze the image to create a custom color scheme.

Doing graphic design is like learning to play a new instrument – it takes dedication and regular practice. Your graphic design skills will only improve as you use them. Once you’ve mastered the techniques I’ve covered, continue to expand your horizons and learn more challenging techniques. You know how a piece of chocolate helps you when your sugar is low? You won’t be able to eat the whole bar, but it does help fill you up a little. Likewise, while it’s good to see a complete tutorial on how to design something specific, it’s always great to find little techniques that can improve your design style or help you design better.

Whether you’re a beginner or a professional graphic designer, everyone needs a small typeface that can add extra flair to the design process or design it yourself.
