This is my top recommendation for travel photography. Learning how to work with images is essential to excel in travel photography.

With a few simple adjustments, you can turn a decent photo into an amazing one. The trick is to do all of this without over-processing the photo.

By learning how to enhance contrast, sharpen image elements, soften tones, reduce highlights, increase shadows, and adjust exposure, you can dramatically improve your travel photos.

There are two times of day when the light is perfect for photography, the blue hour and the golden hour. While all of these tips are great, they’re useless if you don’t know the basics of photography.

Patience in photography is key. You have to be prepared to wait, sometimes hours. I like to be at a location an hour or two early so I have time to set up and compose the shot. That means I’m often sitting in the cold for an hour, but it’s worth it if I get the pictures I want.

Not only taking pictures requires patience, but post-processing also requires patience. Learning all the techniques takes time. You don’t learn everything in a day or even a year. This is a continuous learning process.
